Review - Mirror Mirror

Hollywood (or the studios) has a tendency to try and outdo each other. Remember when Dante's Peak was released? Out came Volcano. Remember when Deep Impact was released? Out came Armageddon. And so on and so forth.

This time, we fall victim (or lucky SOBs, depending on your POV) to the race for box office supremacy with Snow White. The first one out is called Mirror Mirror, starring Lily Collins as Snow White and Julia Roberts as the Evil Queen. And Armie Hammer as the Prince. Also in the movie are Nathan Lane, Mare Winningham and Sean Bean.

I don't think I need to rehash the story as we are all familiar with it but they did change some stuff up here and there but mostly the same.

I was kinda questioning Julia Roberts as the evil queen coz she doesn't look or project evil or intimidating at all. But this Queen is more sarcastically evil than evil evil, which works well coz Roberts is actually a master at cynical sarcasm, having spent her years working the romantic comedy route. Most of the funny also came from Roberts' quips.

Lily Collins, aside from having the famous dad, is relatively a newcomer but she held her own. As did Armie Hammer. But we did know he was a good actor ever since he was in The Social Network. But I wish they would have chosen a more sturdier and buff prince, but hey, beggars can't be choosers. :)

Overall, the movie was excellent. Has all the right parts combined. Comedy, dark humor, action, drama, romance... and even has a little fun ditty at the end that was a homage to the Hindi movies that was refreshing...

Looking forward to Snow White and the Huntsman... which apparently is more serious than Mirror Mirror...

I want to win tickets to Larry Crowne and Lulla Man!

First of, I just wanna say that this post is specifically written to win me some free tickets from Adverlets... *crossing fingers*

If I could get a second chance, what would I have done differently in high school? Hmm, lessee... what would I do differently... I probably would have tried getting past my body issues and self esteem issues. Just to be comfortable in my own skin. I think that was one of the worst times in my life, the uncomfortableness and the feeling of being left out coz I was different than the rest of the cookie cutter clan. Other than that, nothing else I would've done differently.

How do you rekindle a dying relationship? This is tricky. Coz I haven't really been in a long term relationship and most of them died instantly. No such concept as 'dying'... huhu. Anyway, I guess I would just have a talk with the partner. Long and deep. Air everything out. Weigh in the pros and cons, and then decide on a course of action. Hmm, sounds like the dying relationship is gonna die huh? :)
